Who is Really an Expert?

This is my first internet article post checking out Ezine and other related websites. Admittedly, I am a novice to internet sales and marketing, having been initially introduced to distributing and promoting a network marketing internet product/company in the spring of 2007. Albeit, I was so excited viewing this last Super Bowl to witness ads for the internet during the commercial breaks for Go Daddy and iContact and to actually know what they were! My friends, family and colleagues sure didn't!! So, why am I writing this article? Well, that answer is twofold. Firstly, I am to understand that Ezine, and others sites such as Ryze, are vehicles by which to make connections with other networkers and the public, and at the same time foster a degree of trust among one another on the web. Secondly, after perusing through other web articles, I am compelled to make this submission.

In reviewing a good many web articles from those who refer to themselves as so called "experts" rendering advice, I unexpectedly ran across several individuals that I recognized in my short time on the web, who are merely wolves in sheep's clothing, so to speak. What do I mean by that? Simply, that there are those, as in any walk of life, that are merely out to make a dollar versus create real organizations by cultivating real relationships. This is unfortunate for the novice to the web like myself. In due time these people will meet the inevitable fate of exposure, with any luck at all at viral speed! However, it would be rather refreshing to read more content about people's real life experiences and to thereby, make a personal assessment as to the validity of exactly how and to what extent these persons are claiming expertise, hence rendering advice.

So, how does one go about deciphering the real experts from all the so called others? Well, in that arena, my experience unfortunately is derived from having made some initial mistakes. Having confessed to such, my first recommendation before choosing an online enterprise under a so called expert and/or mentor, is to check out respectively, the reputation of said sponsor, as well as the validity of the particular company/product of interest, to the extent that it is possible. Now mind you, one can still be fooled, as it often takes some time for these so called experts to crawl out from under their rocks! For example, I recently lost a small fortune, along with Wal-Mart and one of the world's largest entertainment enterprises, to an individual and his holding company cronies, all of whom turned out to be con men with prior legal claims against them involving fraud. Although it was and remains painful, I was in good company with players like Wal-Mart, proving that even the best of us can be fooled - although, I dare say it's safe to conjecture that Wal-Mart's losses were comparatively negligible! However, more recently, I joined an online company under an individual who made promises of support to reveal to me the ever so mysterious ways of internet marketing, only to be abandoned by this individual almost immediately thereafter. I guess that puts me in the fool me twice category!! Hopefully, truth lies in the adage, the third time is a charm! Moving forward...

The question then remains, what steps can you take to avoid the kinds of mistakes that cost us our precious time and money? For those of us new to internet marketing that require real guidance and direction, it seems that it would be prudent to firstly make contact with your chosen company and any corporate support system they may have in place. Find out how long the company has been around, if they are familiar with the individual and/or team of your consideration, and what their policies are regarding potential difficulties that may arise. Further, ask that the company direct you to where much, if not all, of your requested information may be obtained in writing.

Fortunately, my most recent problem occurred with a very reputable company that stood by me after reviewing the issues that arose with my upline. However, a colleague was not as fortunate. That nameless company failed to render support when a similar issue arose with, as it were, a sponsor with a high profile of supposed success in multiple internet ventures. Which brings me to another rather vitally important recommendation, and that is, be sure to document all of your communications so that in the event a problem does arise, you will have the necessary evidentiary proof to make your case. My company made its decision solely on the basis of a trail of email communications between myself and my upline, which I submitted per their request for review and prevailed. Their decision in my favor afforded me significant strides in acutely reducing my learning curve and thereby, expediting and bolstering my success potential.

What else can you do to weed out the bad seeds? Be sure to get references on this person and/or team with whom you are considering a partnership. For all intents and purposes, it really is a partnership in which you will be engaged. In a brick and mortar business one would never consider it a good idea to enter into a partnership or contract with a virtual stranger. So, why are we doing it on line? There are likely many answers to that question. The relatively smaller amounts of financial investments it takes to get started in many online businesses likely plays a large role. Whatever the case, these pitfalls may, for the most part, be avoided by requesting real referrals from the person with whom you are about to partner. Then go one step further, and ask these people for references of their own. Always, go back to the company or sources like Google or blogs to check for any affirmative comments or possible complaints. Don't just rely on website testimonials. Do a thorough and diligent background search on your potential online partner and the company and/or product he or she is representing. In that endeavor, don't be afraid to contact other competitive representatives in the very same company to obtain more information and comparison shop. Keep in mind that you are a valuable commodity. Sponsors should be competing for you - not just your purchase.

Finally, why should you take my advice? Well, I have paid dearly for my mistakes as an online novice, newly learning to navigate the web for the purposes of potentially earning serious money. Prior to becoming involved in an online business, my only experience on the internet was through searches, researches, minor purchases and bill pay. However, I believe that there are a great many people out there that have an urgent or immediate requisite and/or desire to be seriously involved in adding to, or even replacing, their incomes by working a full or part time online business. I also believe that it is very possible to meet relatively large financial goals in a fairly short targeted time frame, even as a novice on the web. I must qualify that statement however, and this is the critical part. Without a sophisticated working knowledge of internet marketing, you will likely be a 97% failure statistic, unless you have a very key ingredient in your corner.

What is that key ingredient? If you haven't already guessed, it is a real expert in internet marketing in your chosen opportunity with, and here's the important part, a real reputation for helping others, including veritable novices, and a real verifiable track record for teaching others to do the same, with still further, a willingness to mentor you personally. But you say, the internet is filled with these kinds of people! And my response to that is a resounding NO; the internet is filled with a plethora of people claiming to be such! It is usually a relatively simple process learning the particulars of a product and thus easy to get excited about something you would like to share with others, either for its sheer value and/or the financial opportunity it may present. But, and it is a giant whammy of a but, the key to your internet success will be in marketing that product and/ or opportunity, which a mere 3% are achieving with any measurable degree!

So, what then makes me an expert in defining and/or recognizing an expert? On the web to date, solely my recent research and mistakes through trial and error that I would very much like to see others avoid. However, I have been privileged with, what some might deem, a successful career as doctor of chiropractic for more than 28 years, having treated thousands of patients, as well as, mentored and consulted for still others throughout those years. My portfolio consists of a multitude of professional, practice building, motivational, success oriented, as well as yearly continuing education seminars. You will find my professional resume on Career Builder, etc. I also hail from a well known family in the music industry. In my semi-retirement I have gone back to my roots of original music production. So, what do these years of supposedly unrelated experience have to do with defining and/or recognizing an expert on the internet? Indeed, my life's experiences may well constitute an expert's right of passage. Nonetheless, notwithstanding a fervent spirit of self determination, the nexus to success in any worthwhile field of endeavor lies in securing the right training by qualified experts!

The origin of the word doctor is derived from the Latin meaning teacher. From this doctor's/teacher's perspective, there is one key ingredient for achieving initial success on the web, which is highly under publicized, if not altogether neglected. That ingredient, especially for beginners, is hooking up with a real expert, a real person or persons, that will actually teach you the ropes. He/she/they should take you through the steps to initially promote your online business without overwhelming and/or confusing you. Ask your sponsor for his or her advice on which tools may be helpful and applicable to your level of understanding, before investing in a myriad of products guaranteeing your online success. I certainly did not become a licensed physician by having a bunch of eBooks, cd's, DVD's and/or back office tools indiscriminately thrown at me! On the contrary, and just like any other worthwhile endeavor, it took real people, real credentialed professors/experts in their field, teaching other real people what they knew!

It has been said, that the ultimate defining success of any teacher is only fully realized when the student surpasses in knowledge, and its subsequent application, that which the teacher possesses. In closing, my advice to anyone considering connecting with a sponsor/upline in any online venture, again most particularly critical for beginners, is this. Until you are ready to fly on your own having earned your own wings in online marketing, if you will, the initial key ingredient to your recipe for expediting online success, will rest upon your chosen upline. Don't be intimidated by potential sponsors who merely boast of their own successes and tell you to just "get out there and do it." Hogwash!! Unless they are willing to guide you rather than just sell you, move on! There are plenty of successful and sincere sponsors out there! Be sure yours is one of them!

Alas, choose well, my fellow entrepreneurs. Perform your own definitive diagnosis on your potential online sponsor, and increase your odds for a good prognosis for your online success! I will keep you updated as I learn and gather more real facts and real experiences for your real web protection and success. To your health and wealth!!

My name is Dr. Ida L. Spector. I am a seasoned doctor of chiropractic who had been seeking a viable online venture by which to procure substantial earnings and secure a residual income. I was fortunate to find Coastal Vacations: [http://www.dfilive.com/ilsdc/landing1/] This capture page takes you to: [http://www.dfilive.com/ilsdc]

The single parent of a beautiful teen daughter and the custodian of a family of female apricot/red toy poodles and one very intelligent, yet rather goofy standard, life is both joyous and hectic. Originally from Chicago, the challenges of daily living in the year round dream climate of San Diego, pale in comparison to the harsh winters of the mid west. Thus, I well know the ever appealing quest for a vacation lifestyle!

Overlooking the serene Pacific and the islands of Baja to the west, the majestic mountains to the east and the rolling hills of Mexico with its glistening night lights to my south, my home affords me a lifestyle that feels like a vacation paradise every day. I am truly blessed to be able to work from home full time as an independent distributor.
